“Slam dunk”: a feat that can be accomplished only by one endowed with prodigious talent, an exceptional physique, and much practice.

Some people (mostly potential clients, some attorneys trying to sell their services) refer to potential litigation claims as “slam dunks”.

Whatever they’re trying to express I doubt they’re really thinking about the implications of their words.

I don’t like working with attorneys who don’t think carefully about word choices.

If a prospective client tells me that their claim is a slam dunk, my initial feeling is that “I’m not that tall.”
