This Week at the Firm

This week was a quintessential mix of heavy discovery lifting, transactional drafting, and the classic unpredictability of the court system. Here is a look at what we handled.

Litigation & Court Appearances

  • Court Delays: I conducted legal research on a motion to dismiss and a motion to amend pleadings, then traveled to Bridgeport Superior Court for the hearing—only for the judge to reschedule it.
  • Discovery Demands: Discovery was a major theme this week. I prepared and served interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions on two opposing doctors in a corporate dispute. I also served a similar suite of discovery requests on two individuals in a separate home care business dispute.
  • Settlement & Disclosures: I revised and served discovery requests on opposing counsel in a Federal copyright dispute, all while handling phone calls to follow up on a potential settlement. Additionally, I pressed opposing counsel in another matter regarding a prejudgment remedy (PJR), discovery, and mandatory asset disclosures.
  • Case Strategy: I reviewed a first round of discovery production, attended a status conference, and reviewed a commercial lease for a Boston Post Road property. I also maintained ongoing communications with clients and personnel across multiple other active litigation matters.

Corporate & Transactional Drafting

  • Platform Launch: I traveled to Westport for a working lunch at Little Barn to strategize with a client regarding a new venture. Following the meeting, I prepared their LLC operating agreement, a provider agreement template, and a set of privacy-compliant customer terms of service for their platform.
  • Commercial Agreements: For a corporate client, I revised a draft energy efficiency agreement. For a related matter, I revised a promissory note and a guaranty.

Intellectual Property

  • Patent Progress: I successfully paid the issue fee and officially recorded assignments for a client’s patent application.
